About us

FrostByte spun out of QuTech at TU Delft in 2025, building on more than ten years of experience designing complex cryo-CMOS electronics for quantum systems, including some of the first cryo-CMOS chips demonstrated across multiple qubit modalities. The founding team combines cryogenic IC design and quantum engineering with the scientific advisors whose research group produced much of that body of work.
Quantum technologies share a common bottleneck: the devices at their core operate at cryogenic temperatures, while the electronics that control and read them out sit at room temperature, connected through cabling that grows in cost and complexity with every added channel. Our approach is to move the electronics into the cryostat, integrating them tightly with the quantum devices themselves. Cryo-CMOS lets us do this cheaply, reliably, and in volume, because it builds on the manufacturing base and decades of process maturity of the existing semiconductor industry rather than requiring a new one.
The same electronics that make quantum systems scalable have applications wherever performance is limited by the link between cold devices and warm control, from photon detectors to instrumentation for space and deep-cryogenic sensing.
Our mission is to build the cryoelectronics layer that lets quantum technologies scale.
